The Grosse Ile Township Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was created to grow, strengthen & promote the economic health and vitality of our downtown business district on Macomb Street, while generating a greater connection with our residents and island guests. The purpose of the DDA is to attract people and businesses to Macomb Street.
Our Grant program provides funding to owners of new businesses moving to the DDA District, or existing businesses that expand or improve their current presence within the district.
A maximum of $5,000.00 will be awarded to Grant Recipients.
The Grant process is open. Grant applications will be accepted, reviewed and awarded on an ongoing basis, depending on timing within the current Fiscal Year, availability of award funds, and at the discretion of the Grant Review Committee.
The source of funds for this Grant program is the Grosse Ile Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Tax Increment Revenue. Funding will be determined each fiscal year, based on capital improvement project plans for that year, as approved by the Grosse Ile Township Board.

- Downriver Urgent Care: $5,000 for Roofing
- GI Pet & Garden Center: $5,000 for Concrete
- Island Coney: $5,000 for Sidewalk Removal/Replacement
- Perdino's: $5,000 for Landscaping Improvements
- Downriver Urgent Care: $2,340 for Sidewalk and Concrete
- Grosse Ile Car Wash: $5,000 for Facade Improvements
- Preferred Insurance Agency: $4,089.60 for Facade Improvements
- The East End Cafe: $4,179.77 for Facade Improvements
- Meridian Center LLC: $5,000 for Roof Replacement

Economic Enhancement Strategy
The Grosse Ile Township Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was established in 1992 as a tool to promote economic growth and
development within the Macomb Street
business district. Under State Law, the DDA may capture tax increment revenues and expend funds toward economic development-related initiatives within the DDA District boundaries.
DDA TIF Plan
The Downtown Development Authority was first conceived in 1991 as a result of Mike Johnson's desire to develop a more viable downtown district on Macomb Street, the heart of Grosse lle's business district. In 1992 Supervisor Bruce Sells appointed the first board of the DDA.
The purpose of DDA is to attract people to Macomb Street. The DDA looks forward to Macomb being the place to walk, gather as a community, or simply visit.
